We base our guides on official UK sources. Where a guide cites a figure, we link to the source.

Primary sources

• GOV.UK — the State Pension, Pension Credit, benefits, care, LPA.
• HM Revenue & Customs — income tax, pension tax rules.
• MoneyHelper — Money & Pensions Service guidance.
• Financial Conduct Authority — regulation of advice, equity release, drawdown.
• Office for National Statistics — life expectancy, inflation, demographics.
• Equity Release Council — equity release standards.

How we use them

For any rate, threshold or rule we quote (e.g. State Pension amounts, tax bands, capital limits) we check the relevant primary source within the last 12 months. If you spot something out of date, please tell us.
